Love 2011 California. Olive juice with lots of rich fruit on the back end.

Expressive and savory. Mediterranean olives, peppered venison, dusty animal notes, lush dark florals, round but bright acidity, moderate tannin and an elevated but well integrated alcohol. Fruit takes the back seat. Ripe but fresh, juicy plums, dark berries and cherries. Hearty foods have found a friend.

Dark and smooth. Nicely balanced and a little chewy on the back end. Worked well with rich hardy chili. Maybe still a little tight but very nice.

Aromatically penetrating, really fills the senses. Wild floral scents, soy, leather, graphite and bacon fat. Then waves of fruit – blackberry, cassis, some hi-tone cola elements. Very mineral and energetic wine. Pure, focused, long and penetrating palate, no excess sweetness or heaviness. Cassis liqueur, sage and rosemary complexity, black pepper. Strong mid-palate with lingering depth and generous yet polished tannic structure.

Solid but not the sublime level I am used to from this bottle. But I had it with glass tumblers so improper stemware. Also without any food and water after a long day of work. Still very good but more dark red fruit and olives than lilacs and wildflowers. A bit more acidic and tannic than what I recall of this bottle.
