An excellent rendition of a northern Rhone Syrah from Martinborough New Zealand. My last bottle. Notes of white pepper, spice and dried meat. Very good.

Black Pepper with Red florals and spice combined. Very Rhone like - medium bodied and medium weight. Love this style - very appealing. Martinborough is better known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay but on this showing makes excellent Syrah as well. Hasn’t got the ripe black fruits you would see in a Barossa or McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Dark Ruby red in colour. The over riding descriptor on nose and palate is black pepper. If you don’t like pepper in your reds (and I do) then you won’t like this. Just medium bodied from cool climate Martinborough (better known for excellent Pinot Noir and Chardonnay). Touch of red licorice. Fine tannins and ultra peppery. Tasted again 26 weeks later on the 4th December 2021 with consistent notes - ultra peppery. Tasted again on 18th June 2022 with those same peppery notes dominating. A little one dimensional to be honest. I might leave the last one for a year but not convinced it will change greatly.

Gorgeously concentrated and reminiscent of southern Rhône. Pencil shaving and pepper and sweet baking spice with plump dark fruit. Would love to see what this becomes in years to come.
