This '91 is drinking perfectly now with fruit, alcohol, and tannins all in balance. In fact, drinking better than my '77s. The overall effect is of a wonderfully rich and round wine with an extremely persistent finish. The nose and the palate are dominated by vanilla and bourbon barrel flavors with hints of prunes and chocolate. Worth the wait. No sign of fading.

11-12 hour decant on this bottle, which in retrospect was too long, medium color, drier Dow style, medium-bodied, good, not great, vintage Porto, I was expecting more?

1991. Decanted. Much better after 24 hours of air and still singing after 48 hours. I got raisins, dried cherry, a lot of orange peel, fresh herbs, some wood, a bit of cigar, but I was truly surprised by the citrus I got in each visit. Really loved this. Definitely let it air for a day at this point.

Lovely redfruit aromas, still seems quite youthful, rich and quite dense on the palate, spirit still hasn’t fully integrated, long, lingering finish, needs 10+ more years of cellaring!

Tannin has become smooth and supple leading to wonderful fruit and a slight hint of tea. It's starting to go translucent, though I expect it to take 5-10 years more to fully develop. A wonderful almost fully mature port.

A little leaner than other Dow ports I've enjoyed, but pair perfectly with the pumpkin pie and vanilla bourbon-whipped cream
