Tawny color with a little amber in the rims. Mostly translucent. Awesome nose with notes of red fruit, rhubarb, moist earth, Asian spice and some strawberry. Has the funk. Nice fruit and balance in the mouth. In a good spot and should hold there for next 10+ years.

Mar 10th, 2023Nice bright reddish tawny, translucent. Exotic nose from the get go. Notes of strawberry and raspberry, rhubarb, Asian spice, some wood and some dark earth. Great texture and mouth feel. Builds with a few hours of air. In a great place but still young with more upside and can likely get more complex.

Nov 30th, 2020Dark and opaque. Not giving much in the nose despite 2 hours of air in the glass. Notes of black cherry, wood and leather. Very Cabernet like in the mouth. Doesn’t come across as Pinot at all. Must be the vintage. Disappointing.

My last bottle of this, saved to share with my friend Merrick Dowson, who was the importer of Laurent's wines at this time. I remember loving this on release and though the adolescent power of the wine has morphed into more a dowager aunt, it's still quite wonderful. Traces of the early beefiness are still here, but now enhanced by faded rose and five spices. The wine can go on for several more years, but no need to wait if you are seeking the pleasure of a real burgundy at it's mature and elegant moment
