Domaines Devillard
Le Renard Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay
Smooth, creamy mouth feel and excellent for food pairing. Had that classic Burgundian funk on the nose, and lots of green apple, creme brulee, lemon zest and a light saltiness.

Oct 20th, 2016Ah, Burgundy. Home to the most AOCs in France and strict purveyors of "terroir" wines. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the poster children of the region and have shared that spotlight for hundreds of years. "The Fox" is made from vines located in Côte Chalonnaise, an AOC lacking any Grand Cru vineyards. In this respect, the AOC produces great value Burgundy wines in comparison with it's neighbors. Found this dusty 2009 in a 2013 bin at a Total Wine and gave it a chance. Most of these wines should be drunk within 3-5 years - but this one is still drinking wonderfully. ~$20 | #chardonnay #bourgogne #coteschalonnaise
On the eyes: Deep, straw-gold, hint of greenish hue, star bright, med stain, med tears, no gas/floc.
On the nose: Soft cheese, slightly herbaceous, green apple, white flowers, mineralty. Med alcohol.
On the tongue: Med+ acid, med soft tannin, med alcohol, med+ body. Round in the mouth. Mellowed out butter, caramel, juicy apple/pear, with hints of cut grass and salted lemon. No oak on this one but plenty of mineral character on the way down.
