Domaine Y. Clerget (Yvon Clerget)
Volnay-Caillerets 1er Cru Pinot Noir
A deft light body but round texture makes this aromatic and savory wine dance in the mouth. Effortless to drink, with crushed rocks and dried herbs wafting from the glass. Bravo 👏

Mar 26th, 2020We all have that experience that we would love to undergo again, sans the memory, afresh: my first taste of peaty Scotch; the magnificent atmosphere of a Souls game; one’s first orgasm with a loved one; or, encountering a truly great, mature, Burgundy. Wipe the slate clean, let us start again; I’m sure that’s how we all clamor. But all that’s left is to forge on, in search of higher highs and the brighter lights. Nose: starts off tight, with dried, tart raspberries and strawberries, opens up to earth, oak, vanilla later, without overwhelming the fruit. Even a bit of perfumed peaches. Palate: layered light plums, juicy mid-ripe strawberries, gentle and super-silky tannins, extremely luscious mouthfeel. Finish: long, notes of stewed tea, recurrent umami and minerals. Puts the LONG in prolonged. Oh my. Oh.

Nov 2nd, 2015Coffee, game, sanguine character, and red fruit on the nose. Gives way to the softest, brightest, strawberry and raspberry. I am having a moment. Thank you, Diane.
