Domaine Vincent Paris
Granit 30 Cornas Syrah
Superb. Elderberry, blackberry and licorice. Very pure and has gained a beautiful transparency. Just slightly leafy. From burly to elegant.

Apr 18th, 2023This took hours to open up but when it started it was great. Earthy nose of wet humus, roasted chestnut, pumpkin, molasses and black pepper, moving into savory fruit: blackberry compote with orange rind, blackcurrant and sour fermented blackberries. Expressive, salty and bloody palate with irony minerals, round acid, and a peppery finish. A little bit dark fruited, but still quite enjoyable. Needs a few more years or a long decant.

Nov 1st, 2020A little funky barnyardy whiff initially, but it blows off within about 45 minutes and then the crushed granite bullies it out of the way. From the nose, one would expect the wine to be kinda challenging in the mouth, but it’s actually the opposite. So soft and approachable at only 5 years of age. Dark red and black berry fruit in contest with the granite, all in a very soft and suave package. Not exceptional depth, but this is a great value, satisfying Cornas.

1 person found it helpfulSep 5th, 2021Olive brine and blackberries. Vincent Paris is not necessarily the most acclaimed of Northern Rhône producers but the wines always deliver.

Feb 23rd, 2020Quiz prize so unexpectedly excellent food wine.
Straight evocative messenger from the Northern Rhône.
Drank it with Angela with aubergine/goats cheese burgers.

Pretty serious wine that, in retrospect, I should have decanted. Deep dark color in the glass with whiffs of pepper. Nicely balanced and very smooth despite near pnp. Very nice.

May 27th, 2019Yes, this is somewhat modern/glossy, but there are very nice black fruit and pepper notes, med + acidity and it still tastes like N Rhône Syrah

Feb 8th, 2019Color of bright purple with different shades. Nose is beautiful with strawberries, mellow oak, spice, green pepper, sweet aldehyde, and some ripe dark fruit. Taste of lavish acidity, a bit peppery, other flavors are vague. So I decide to aerate for a while. After 15 minutes or so, flavors show up, juicy grapes, round tannins, dried strawberries, blackberries, a bit oak, a bit tobacco leaves, and indeed some Unami note. Aftertaste is medium long with mix of tannins, peppery, and zest. Nice one.
