Savigny-Lavières Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Massive SLB tightly wound and brilliant , focused red fruit profile.

Wet stone, ripe strawberry, cherry, and raspberry. M+ acid, m body and chalky tannin. Long balanced finish.

Crappy glass, beautiful bottle. Once it opened, beautiful ripe berries, soil and earth.

Dark fruit, perfume, violet, river rock. Wood finish, black toast,, sarsaparilla, dried orange peel. The palette: building and bigger tannins and awkward, saline/sea shell, apple skin.

Great great buy for the price, delicious

It was better and fresher right out of the gate. As it got air it became too soft and the oak started to dominate. Overall, a lackluster showing.

Light, almost transparent red. Fruit-forward, more tannin than expected but they're long and agreeable. A modern flavor profile, and a bit lacking for concentration, but generous and appealing. 18 months of 50% new oak, not toasted.

Great Pinot Noir, well balanced
