Ten year check in. Baby fat is all gone and this is savory and slightly dried out with herbal and reticent black fruits aromas. Hoping this turns a corner in the next few years.

Fun. Love this throwback to the time before Aussie Shiraz was the Argentine Malbec of today.

Friday night and wanting to try something different. I stopped by my store of choice and going in looked in other areas than I normally do. I was drawn to this 2013 Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier Lieu-Dit Malakoff Pyrenees Shiraz from the Victoria area of Australia. Not being big on Syrah/Shiraz I need to expand my wine world into more of this type of wine.

The nose is very expressive with lots of dark fruits, blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, allspice, licorice, chocolate and cured meat.

On the palate the dark fruit continues through with notes of blackberry, blueberry, clove, black pepper, spice, herbs, licorice, and rich soil.

This wine is full bodied with a well rounded mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + chewy tannins that lead into a long dark fruit finish. Enjoy the weekend and try different things to help round out your life. Please stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Wednesday random cellar pick. Good. Was expecting some sharpness but there was none. Super smooth and enjoyable. This is the easy drinking kind of wine I like to pair with Italian food.

Not a heck of a lot going on. But for a pre-hump day selection it served just fine.

Another excellent Shiraz from Australia. Amazing nose. Typical pepper on the nose. Jennifer said it smells better than it tastes. I agree but it still tastes pretty darn good!! #terlatowines

I was a little worried when I pulled the cork on this one. It didn’t look like it had sealed well. But there was no mold or taint. It was more oxidized than I would have expected for the age. So this was more like dried black currants and raisins, with residues of blackberries and blueberries that once we’re probably in the forefront. There’s also black pepper and cocoa. At first, tannins and acidity were harsh, but with some air this has thrown a lot of sediment and it’s mellowed and integrated. I’m very pleased with it.

SHIRAZ baby!!! This is Terlato and Chapoutier 2013 Lieu-Dit Malafoff Shiraz from Australia of coarse. One of the best Shiraz wines I have ever had! Dark berries up front and a spicy chocolate cigar in the middle. The finish is very mild on the dry factor and leaves a thirst for more. It has Earth tones and a slight tartness on the end of the mid palate. I could chew this wine in my mouth it is so thick on the palate. Damn good wine !!!!!! I will buy more of it for sure!
