Copper River salmon season demands something in the same conversation. So, here's a 99 which is shimmering with pure red berries. Has some tannin lingering around & plenty of bright acidity. Texturally, this is simply marvelous. A little hint of ginger/spice on the back of the palate. Should cellar just fine a few more years, but is drinking just beautifully tonight.

1999 great vintage, this is still young can go another 5 years at least. Decanted, really opened up after 3 hrs.

1999 vintage comparison of two producers. All had the complexity of the year and region. One corked Drouhin (CdV) and one corked Taupenot-Merme (MSD). But back-ups were available.

Stars included the T-M Chambolle Musigny and Charmes Chambertin with great balance and wonderful forest aromas, and the Drouhin Clos de Vougeot and Charmes Chambertin with growing richness and a touch of saline.

Some had only a brief arc of balance, but the GC's were pleasing throughout the evening.
