Beautiful wine but quite young. Black cherry, roses, forest floor, cinnamon, clove and still a fair amount of new oak. Drinkable now but I would give it 5 more years.

Ripe cherries, black berries, chocolatey new oak, modern style but still pretty steely, slightly lacking in concentration

We had the 1999, not the 2011; I found this picture online because I was too busy geeking out to take a picture. Another Coravin pour at Vin Vin. First aged Burgundy and it didn't disappoint at all! Also explosively aromatic like the aged Riesling we had before it, love the way an old wine can be so generous like that. Drying rose and violet petals, mossy, humid forest floor, clove spiced dried black cherry and cranberry, some subtle mushroomy meaty umami, and white pepper. Very richly textured while still remaining light on its feet and not heavy in the slightest. Such soft, subtle silky tannin coating the mouth; moderate acidity still providing liveliness and brightness. Such finesse. Kind of reminded me of older Barbaresco but softer, with less spice character and more earthy character to replace it, and with less brawn. I see why Barolo and Barbaresco Nebbioli get compared to red Burgundy now. I totally understand the aged Burgundy hype. That might prove to be a dangerous realization given how dang spendy Burgundy can get...

Dark blackberry and cherry fruit with bright acidity, polished, elegant with savory long finish. Beautiful wine!

Exactly what great Burgundy from a great vintage should be.

Faconnières. Dark ruby nose. Black and red fruits on nose. Blackberry, red plum, underbrush, grilled meat. Great concentrated wild cherry, blackberry, herbs, mineral, salt on long palate. Ripeness framed by bright savory acid and ripe tannins. Plenty of stuffing for long haul, and great poise to insure elegant maturity. This is damn good. Re-buy.

Pretty good - needs a little more concentration and complexity to make it great. Probably not a Rebuy
