Domaine Sorin-Coquard
Cuvee Antique Cesar
Sharp fruit gripping skin tannins
Not much else to say - a grape varietal to try for fresh ideas, and the notch in the varietal tarting belt.

Surprisingly dark for a red from northern Burgundy, with only purple/black color and an opaque core. Nose offers peppery, blackberry fruit and plenty of density. The palate is medium bodied, with medium plus acid and firm/fine long tannins.
This variety is said to have originated in the south of Europe, likely in the Roman empire and named for Caesar.

Nice experiment. One dimensional but good balance. Dark fruit.

Nov 8th, 2022As someone else noted, a rare bottle of a super rare red grape from Burgundy called “Cesar” (10 hectares in the world) — very dark color, rich, dark fruits, some noticeable structure, this needs 3-5 years aging to settle down, a great “stump your wine friends” wine!!
