Shimmering ruby. Expansive aromas of fresh dark berries, cherry cola, potpourri and exotic spices; vanilla and espresso notes emerge as the wine opens up. Sweet, fleshy and seamless in texture, offering palate-staining black raspberry, cherry liqueur, vanilla and spicecake flavors and a sexy violet pastille nuance. Velvety tannins build slowly on the finish, which hangs on with impressive, floral- and spice-dominated persistence. (60% new French oak) (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, June 2019)

Dark berries, vanilla, cola, and hints of sage on the nose. Ripe dark fruit and supple tannins on the palate with pleasing persistence. Domaine Serene’s flagship Pinot Noir blend is a nice snapshot of the excellent 2015 vintage. 14.1% ABV. $75.

Dark garnet in color with long (@Bill Bender style) legs. Heavy tart cherry, anise and bramble aromas. Laser focused black fruit, leather, anise. So balanced with medium tannins. Baked fruit galette (pie crust) and milk chocolate on the finish. Great reminder to not forget about the baller Willamette pinots!

Had this initially at Cast and Plow at the Ritz Carlton MDR and didn’t rate it that highly. Upon further reflection and another couple of bottles it is actually quite good!

What wine! Aromatics of rose petals, black tea, raspberry. I was expecting a dryer opening but this one has a nice rich fruit, still delicate like a Willamette should be but nice notes of dried raspberry, guava, tea, sage maybe even morels? Tannins are finely softer with nice back palate length...just a spectacular wine.
