Domaine Saint Préfert
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

#AgedWineTuesday
Ruby in color with a wide brick rim.
Earthy on the nose, and medium bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing red fruits with light wood, spices, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead and black tea.
Tangy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 25 year old Châteauneuf-du-Pape is not drinking at its peak anymore, but still very tasty. Complex and interesting. Elegant and soft.
Good right out of the bottle, but didn't last long. Easy drinking, and better right out of the bottle.
13% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$100 (current vintage).

Muted nose with a whiff of dark cherry, but mostly oak and smoke. Dark cherry and cassis on the palate, but the higher alcohol stands out a little out of balance. Drink over the next 5 years - but probably not the best value from the vintage.

Great potential, insanely dense this will layer out more as the years go by.

Impeccably made, aromas of plums, black cherry, licorice, francensense spice, and ash. Still young so there is a shyness to the aromas and flavors but its all there. It just might be the vintage turning down the flavor and aroma volume. Traditional texture and tannin. Really like this producer lately, clean and precise winemaking. #chateauneuf #stprefert
