Domaine Saint-Damien
Vieilles Vignes Gigondas Red Rhone Blend
Blueberry breakfast sausage, brambles, garrigue. Tannins are still pretty gripping. Great body. Clearly still on the young side but enjoyable now with a little patience.

Jan 31st, 2022Nose of black cherry and herbs. Entry of figs, ripe plum, black tea, sweeter pipe tobacco. Had a very nice and pleasing black cherry backbone. Very good acidity up front, with still more of a stiff finish than I expected for 10 years. Hint of truffle and mushroom on the finish as well. On a lesser year, this one in my opinion would already be on the decline slightly. However, I feel this one has great structure and balance for almost 10 years old in a good year for CDP.

Oct 25th, 2019Day one, deep ruby colour, restrained nose mostly black fruit, quite closed with a tannic backbone. But delicious, tasted like a good Syrah, I thought I was drinking a good bottle of Cornas. Day two, it opened up as softer tones of Grenache came through with more complexity and a long persistent finish. No need to rush and open the next bottle, this wine will provide many more years of pleasure.
