While a lot of oak is used in the making of this wine it is not so perceptible on the palate unless you count the oxygen impact from the long elevage. Freshness, along with the long skin and lees contact lead in the flavor and aroma department. Cheese, cheese rind, primary and tertiary citrus and orchard fruits play a tug of war. Great now but going to wait a few years more on this vintage. 92++

The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé La Croix Vieilles Vignes was bottled at the same time as the 2018 because they felt the wine had so much tension. The 2017 has an energetic bouquet with pressed yellow flowers, white peach and light touches of mandarin. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry, slightly honeyed in texture but with fine acidic bite. There is a touch of spiciness, a little nutmeg on the aftertaste. This is a fine Pouilly-Fuissé with weight and length. (Neal Martin, Vinous, November 2021)

Denogent has some really great wines in the lineup, but Le Croix is always a favorite. So much joy and overt personality, gorgeous fruit, and generosity. All wrapped up in and layered package. Can taste the warmth of this vintage for sure, but I love that about it. Like snacking on rich ripe orchard fruits all day long. I think the oak matches the wines richness well, but this could easily see another phase of beauty with some time to shed a little fat. I love all the fat now though.

Have had mixed experiences with Denogent - well made but sometimes the oak has dominated. Not so with this bottle; elegant and balanced.

Very good but needs time for the oak to better integrate.

The bottle of this I had last week was much better. Too much perfumed oak on this one. Is there more bottle variation with half-bottles? (Both were 375ml)
