Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux
Les Suchots Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir
A very pretty nose. Violets, wild strawberry, minerality. Very supple and pretty. A little lacking in the middle.

Oct 27th, 2023Dark tawny, almost opaque. Killer nose. Has the funk. Notes of black fruit, Asian spice, rhubarb, cherry cola and some dark earth. Silky in the mouth. In a perfect spot.

Dec 27th, 2022Tawny color. Nice Vosne spice nose. Plus rhubarb and raspberry, dark soil, a little wood and some sois bois. Really nice in the mouth, coats the palate. Acidity has softened, and the fruit is still there but not as much as past bottles. Still in good shape but I’ll focus on drinking these up in the next few years.

Sep 2nd, 2022Ruby color. Mostly translucent. Looks young. Bright fruit forward nose. Notes of raspberries, ripe rhubarb, dark soil, Asian spice and some briary brush. A bit tough in the mouth. Structure and acidity is bigger than remaining fruit. But this wine is all about the great nose.

Mar 13th, 2022Deep, dark red color with reddish-orange rims. Great exotic nose with notes of cherries, rhubarb, Asian spice, dark soil, raspberries, cola and some cedar wood. The nose is replicated in the intensity of the fruit in the mouth, with softened tannins and nice structure. Over 5 hours, this delivered a great old red burg and Vosne experience.

Mar 7th, 2021From a great looking bottle bought at the Domaine. Tawny and light in the glass. Bright cherry focused nose. Also notes of spice, dark soil, cranberry and burlap sac. Rich and liqueur like in the mouth. Heavy and masculine. There is a hint of steminess but you have to look for it. Not my favorite vintage of this but it was serviceable.

Nov 21st, 2020Raspberry tawny in the glass, translucent. Bright aromatic nose. Notes of red fruit, rhubarb, Asian spice, dark moist soil and a hint of menthol. Big and round in the mouth, but still has an edge - even with 3 hours of air. Has a lot going on for it, yet I’ve found that this wine was more extravagant and inspiring a few years back, and not as much in the last year or two.

Nov 1st, 2020Somehow we ran out of wine as our La Fromage course was being readied. So went and pulled this from the cellar. Pop n Pour. Old tawny color, thin in glass. But a great nose with some funk comes on immediately. Has a great old Vosne spice-driven nose. Red fruit and sois bois. A great treat late in the evening. (Bday 12 of 13)

Aug 2nd, 2020Why is les Suchots not a grand cru. Many of them are much better than Echezeaux or Grand echezeaux. This is one of them. Needs time in the glass, therefore decant 45 minutes. Full bodied, great salinity and minerality, long long burn. Quite the opposite than most other 2017s, yes approachable but will and needs to age.

May 24th, 2020Deep tawny color. Almost opaque. Exotic nose. Notes of raspberries, Asian spice, black pepper and a little bit of stem. Rich and fruit forward in the mouth. Got better and better with air; in hour 7 you’d be guessing blind this is DRC.
