Reddish tawny with a hint of mahogany. Mostly translucent. Herbal nose. Notes of pine tree, red berries and some wood – and not much more than that. Has that pyrazine / lady bug affect, although not overly so – but it’s enough to hide elements like the Vosne spice and detract from what should be a high-end wine.

Nov 28th, 2021From magnum. Decanted for 2 hours and consumed over the rest of the evening. Nice dark tawny color. Mostly translucent. Bright, bing cherry nose. Also notes of earth, red licorice, rhubarb. Big and powerful in the mouth. The exotic perfume grows as this wine gets time to open in the glass. Later in the evening this was singing. This large format bottle could easily have delivered more pleasure for another 10 years.

Jul 25th, 2020From magnum. Dark reddish tawny color, sharp in the glass. Bright nose develops with air and reveals notes of ripe black cherries, rhubarb, Asian spice and a little menthol. Very complete in the mouth. Fruit and acidity in nice balance. Young still, although this was a well stored magnum. Still has more to develop in the bottle I think/hope.

Dec 26th, 2016Tasted blind. Dark and opaque. Closed nose despite hours of air. Black fruit, pepper, suis bois nose. Seems to be a very young wine and needs another 10+ years to be more complex. 93+.

Much more expressive aromatic ally than the last bottle. Ripe fruit and fine ground spice on the palate. Tasty!

The red of the eve, a crushing powerhouse of aethereal elegance, a resounding testament to burgundy, nothing nowhere else is remotely like this, so furry, sweaty, delightfully stinky upon opening, father said smells like a raccoon or a woman's brazier, haha! Such a spooky, bloody irony color, just mesmerizing nose you greet with trepidation, after air a thunderbolt of sweet, dirty cranberries and pomegranates assault you, some green notes and a stifling acidity stab at the palate, but o so powerful, complex mid-palate saturation, mammoth-scaled yet no more than medium bodied, tannin resolved, its the acidity keeping it fresh and lively, great stuff. A counterpoint to the 82 cos at its Side, coolly stating that all sweet fruit isn't as complex as a myriad of ripeness levels throughout, and complexity is why we drink this wine, isn't it?
