Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay

M’s bday dinner (5/12). Tasted blind. Light to medium gold. Notes of rich citrus fruit, lemon, apples, petrol/minerals, gravel, some spice and a little white truffle. Rich in the mouth with great structure. Chewy. Amazing mouth feel with a long finish. Loved this, an all time top W Burg for me, but the 92 Rav Clos provided just a little more emotion for me over the evening.

Layer after layer of nuttiness and orange tiny amounts of oxygen complex fig and burnt lemon peel. Wow!! Old Montrachet - yes it is a Merry Christmas!!

Not sure there really is a better white wine.

A sleeper for sure. Kept getting better and better, no premox at all. Absolutely amazing but not the wotn!

Le Montrachet. !!! A shattering wine, beyond compare. Oak is forefront, and absolutely delicious. Bulletproof wine, we hope. One for the record book. Imported by Diageo Château and Estates.

First taste of Ramonet 2011 grand cru's. Silky. Needs air.

Medium gold color. Slightly darker than the others tasted beside it. Heavy nose that at first seems disjointed. But with a few hours of air this starts to show what it has. Acidity builds over 4 hours and this gives off some stone, citrus pit and iodine notes. The telltale mint is faint but present. Not a perfect performance but still shows its stuff.

Did not show. Closed and muted. Came out a bit with air but never wowed.

From a 3L. Fresh, nuanced and in great shape. A fabulous bottle!
