Fourth of four 90 Ponsot bottles served blind for the boyz. A rather rare bottle I’ve learned since Ponsot stopped making it in 93. Tawny color, translucent. High-pitched nose. Notes of bing cherries, flowers, Asian spice, plums and some meaty thing like beef jerky. Linear and angular in this mouth feel. Great balance of fruit and structure. Tannins fully integrated. This is really really good. (Bday 9 of 12)

Aug 1st, 2021Truly mind blowing for the vintage. As a well known Oregon winemaker told me today when I mentioned how amazing this was, “Producer, producer, producer”. I’d add Vyd, Vyd, Vyd too.

Apr 5th, 20191990 Domaine Ponsot Latricieres-Chambertin. Lunch w A&S at Tap w D&T W. Drank this before the ‘96 Leroy RSV. Didn’t decant either bottle. This wine was fabulous... until we drank the Leroy. This was light, but still substantial in flavor. Delicious and maybe an unfair comparison.
