Tavel Rosé Blend
Rather light for a Tavel but worth a pour.

Apr 7th, 202360/20/20 blend Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault. A classic wine for a very smoky early autumn-like day in Puget Sound. Light extracted dark red in color, excellent clarity. Floral and red fruit notes in nose. Peach, cranberry, cherry and later tutti frutti flavors in mouth with anise and minerality in finish, slight skin astringency. Dry to off dry. Cherry and anise aftertaste. So much flavor...

Aug 21st, 2018Strawberry, black cherry, red plum, even a touch of game. Ripe and rich on the palate with enough acidity and a touch of bitterness to balance. Big and bold for a rosé but executed so well. A red wine lover's rosé.

Sep 6th, 2020Strawberry, cherry, a creamy lactic yogurt quality, and a touch of garrigue or fennel.
Nearly full body on the palate with red fruit and flowers, blood orange, with a bit of that fennel/licorice. Medium acidity and a touch of phenolic bitterness.
Delicious rosé with a lot of food pairing potential given its structure. I will be seeking out more rosés from here.

France's first rosé appellation in 1815, this Rhone village's deep pink flows back to at least the 13th century. The darker color heralds deeper flavors and tannic structure. Dry and full-bodied with notes of cherry, white peach and almond leading into a river-rock minerality (Chateauneuf-du-Pape is less than ten miles away.) Well balanced, not overly acidic, and perfect with bouillabaisse, artichokes, or Carolina barbecue.

Jun 8th, 2017Strawberry, white peach, anise, bitter almond, wet stone. Big, almost unctuous, but balanced. Textbook Tavel, which is to say, killer.

May 29th, 2017Excellent full body rosé. Long finish after opening for 15-20 minutes. Complimented equally by salmon or by veal. This is how rosé is supposed to be.
