A nice Bojo while I watch Stanford v. Texas. Love the nose on this. Just explosively granitic, but there’s some cherry/wild berry fruit and pungent spice too. Much more austere on the palate than the last bottle I had a year ago. Bone dry, pretty much all granite, and a tad astringent. It’s very enjoyable now, but extrapolating the two date points (now and a year ago) suggests to me that these should be drunk up.
UPDATE: Night 2, the fruit is more present and the wine is softer. Maybe it’s night 1 showing simply reflects a dumb phase. Upping from 9.0 to 9.1.

Great value. Very concentrated aromas on the nose. Deep, ripe, plummy dark cherry ooze, a feral funky note, almost yeasty, deep granite minerality, a little spice. Rich amalgam of fruit and granite in the mouth, not jammy, decent acids, quite dry. Even a little tannin. Really overachieves.

Apr 5th, 2022Not for me. Sure, great old vine material. But when a 6 year old Beaujolais can't be popped and poured due to CO2/possible refermentation, and it has been stored at cool cellar temps...maybe shipping is suspect or the wine is too fragile to survive the logistics it saw through the channel I purchased.

Sep 13th, 2021At its peak! So fragrant. Ripe, tangy dark cherry and plum. Tons of pungent crushed granite. Exotic spice. An animal note; not quite sweat, but on that vector. Less demonstrative in the mouth, very linear, but loads of flavors that end clingy and savory. A little tannic picker at the end. Very nice.

Mar 22nd, 2020This is Gamay on steroids. Deep but bright cherry fruit. With the cracked stones. Lots of ‘em. So 2015 in the mouth. Big, blocky, no elegance and all muscle. Full bodied (14%) and with less acid than I usually like. It’s really good but like a lot of ‘15 Bojos , it’s atypical.

Feb 2nd, 2018Very spicy, hickory smoke aromas. A caramelized note. Such a silky mouthfeel with a kick of acid and super fine tannin. Long savory finish. Its not the Beaus you know its the Beaus you lay.

2 people found it helpfulMar 24th, 2015Lurid ruby. A highly expressive bouquet evokes fresh red/blue fruits, Asian spices and smoky minerals, along with a sexy floral pastille nuance. Sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering sappy raspberry, boysenberry and spicecake flavors that are given lift and cut by a spine of juicy acidity. Distinctly elegant in style. Finishes very long and smooth, with silky tannins that fold smoothly into the vibrant fruit. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2018)
