Rich, vibrant Alsatian Riesling with a nose of pear, Jasmin, ripe peach and honey. That palate is viscous with luscious lemon curd, grapefruit pith, nectarines and preserved lemon. The finish is wieghty and laden with limestone and wet slate. Dry with intense acidity.

Wonky bottle...acetic acid, stripped of aroma and flavor. A pale example of previous bottles.

WOTN, tasted at a recent Wines of Alsace media dinner. If ever there was an example of a pitch-perfect Pinot Gris, surely it is this, the 2013 Ostertag Vin D'Alsace Fronholz, a lively dance of lanolin, honey, quince, dewy pear, fruit and stony minerality. In the mouth, it's fresh with a kind of nuanced complexity and twinkling acidity that is rare to find in this demure grape. Seafoam and lilting citrus notes tumble forth at the close. 14.0% ABV | Sample

Enjoyed this with pork and Napa cabbage pierogies. Really digging this wine. Chalky, mineraly, white flowers, texture and layers of goodness.

Not my favorite Ostertag wine. Very dry with nice minerals but an underlying bitterness. Same as a bottle I had a few years ago. Maybe with some air it will evolve.

Difficult vintage with low yields but this Ostertag still shined.
