I like this wine although if I had it blind I would have sworn it was Gamay - maybe some Brett here but not huge in it ‘s impact caper spice and cherry fruit thoroughly enjoyable - having with turkey meatloaf

If you can get past the bret ~ it's a pretty fantastic basic Bourgogne

2014 Montanet-Thoden 'Galerne' Bourgogne Vezelay Chardonnay organically grown on clay and limestone, 30km south of Chablis heading towards Beaune. No oak, marked by high acidity, aromas of tart citrus fruit, lemon & lime, some cardamom spice, stoney texture and a medium long salty finish. Prefer it when served not too cold. Popular wine in Parisienne wine bars. Nice! Suited to the more advanced 'Eurocentric' palates.

Extremely drinkable, but with a strong personality. I wish my 'basic' Bourgogne could be like this all the time. A total surprise I had to find it around Vezelay in the north of Burgundy. At a very drinkable price too!

I was lured to try this considering a few comments here comparing it a bit to Gamay so was curious to try it out. Nice Bourgogne rouge with typical varietal characteristics of raspberries and strawberries. Has a lovely rose petal aroma I really liked. Good value overall. Paired well with simple mushroom pizza.

Not a show stopper but gets it done. High acidity, mainly I got citrus notes with sone salinity and minerality

Sweet and sour perfection! Delicious last wine of 2018 - a sweet and sour year in its own right.
