Domaine Michel Niellon
Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay
A big wine. Lush ripe fruit with tropical notes. Marzipan, sweet corn. Then lifted acidity with lemon. Minerality and stone behind. Good stuff, and long

Aug 18th, 2023Tasted blind. Medium gold color. Viscous in the glass. Notes of lemon, apricot, orange peel and a little mint. Despite being open for several hours the finish was subtle and the impact was modest. But with a few hours more in the glass this exploded to become more rich and powerful. Gained the complexity you hope for. Last sip was the best.

May 28th, 2018Med gold and viscous in the glass. Slightly dirty and tainted / corked nose that weirdly comes and goes. Doesn't affect the mouth which has tons of fruit and acidity. Sweet pit fruit and stone, apricots and rocks. Huge wine that has what appears to be a common taint flaw for this vigneron in this vintage.

Dec 3rd, 2016Not the most solid 10 I've had. More richness than expected.

Oct 7th, 2016Tasted blind. Med gold. Dirty fruity nose (classic Niellon which I guessed correctly) with great intensity, and notes of stone, apple, citrus and vanilla. It started out a bit disjointed but with several hours of air this just exploded in the glass. Huge power and palate staining finish. The acidity was amazing and the nose just grew to be beyond memorable. On a day of great whites this was clearly the best. Bravo.
