Domaine Mee Godard
Morgon Corcelette Gamay
Notes of juicy black fruits on the nose, on the palate it’s black fruits with alcohol. Not much tannins and acidity.

Apr 8th, 2023Candied strawberries on the nose, on the palate, tannins and earth not much of the candied fruits, acidity muted for this. But structured just not much off a flavor.

Apr 8th, 2023Vivid ruby. An assertive, spice- and mineral-accented bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits and incense and shows excellent clarity. Vibrant and precise on the palate, offering bitter cherry, boysenberry and candied lavender flavors that deepen with air while retaining vivacity. Plays power off delicacy with a sure hand and finishes very long and gently chewy, with polished tannins and resonating floral and mineral notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, August 2021)

Really lovely. Seems more feminine and floral than her Cote du Puy. Granite/chalky notes in front of layers of cool red and blue Fruits and a savory finish. I need more of this one!

Feb 5th, 2021Intriguing nose with floral, mineral and savory fruit; poached fresh berries. Also showing up is a subtle meaty Syrah-like note. The first sip reveals tremendous inner mouth florals; and a prism of bright red, purple and blue fruit appear on the palate. Caressing texture and sensuous tannins. Just ripe with a measured perception of sweetness. On the whole so lifted and elegant. The intentionality is amazing; Godard is coaxing expressions of gamay that are beautiful and different than any I’ve tried before, and at a very reasonable price. Very much worth seeking out.

Sep 1st, 2020Peonies and violets exploding with savory characteristics of roasted foul aloft light clove, blueberries, blackberries and red currant. Thank you old vine Gamay from Morgon and my first sit-down experience with Mee Godard wines. Transportive.

Serious potential here. Would love to follow her over the next few vintages.

Feb 24th, 2016A beaujolais in a cru Burgundy style. My previous note still stands except that the flowery notes disappeared, and the oaky touches are more present. Cherry, hay, vanilla, oak, earthy notes too. The palate is showing a great acid drive, some nice cherry notes all along, a good grip, some width and even a mocha, oaky touch before some tannins in the rear, rather stronger than the average oak treatment you get in the region, a spherical mid palate before a long, very long finish with a drying effect, mocha, oaky notes and that superb, typical cherry and hay note I love in great gamays. I could easily see it stand its ground in a red cote de beaune village to 1er cru blind line up.
