Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Started quite restrained and reticent but blossomed in the glass. Old school with stems but time shows a very delicate and pretty nose. Fresh red fruit, violets, plums, gorgeous classic burg. Mid sized on the palate. Pretty and long.

Good fruit still. Dark, some sour cherry, dried herbs. Good

Nose showed trademark 2011 greenies but they were subtle and added to the wines nuance. Showed fresh fruit and built for another few years in the cellar.

95 I remember touted then forgotten but this always happens...evolving, ripe in some notes but young backbone...like people! You never know how will be!

Black pepper and dark pure blue fruit. Intense plums and violets. Quite lean and austere. Real clarity and very vigorous. Serious and quite brooding still.

Vintage shined through with big ripe fruit. The tannins were a bit edgy and green. Lacked acidity taking away from texture and length.

Forest floor, dried mushroom, pitting soil, old raspberry, cherries, cranberries and pomegranates. 75 year old vines

GRAND CRU!!

A macho burgundy here, real intense and muscular animal nose, fur and blood and wet earth, opens to sweet raspberry fruit with time. Palate is rich and deep, almost chewy like a meal, dense and meaty yet in the most elegant way, has a long life ahead yet! 1999 vintage.
