Clos des Ducs Monopole Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Great bottle. So much fruit and depth. Hints of truffle and underbrush with decaying leaves. Tannin was super refined and silky.

Green florals and sweet, botrytic fruit, but wide open and lovely.

Still quite primary and coiled but lovely cool fruit. Good depth and minerality. Needs time to strut its stuff but very good.

Very brooding, giving up very little at first. After an hour of air, red fruit and spice come through with good balance. The palate is medium bodied and has great acidity. This is nice now, but a few years too early. Another 5-8 years at least and will last 25+.

pretty delicate and nuanced for such a young duc. beautiful mouthfeel. light strawberry flavors. drinking well young.

The @gdangerville best may be the enclosed vineyard of the Dukes, which has competing slopes & yields amazing Pinot noir. #burgundy #volnay

1974 vintage - alive, vibrant, still holding onto fruit, supported by a strong mineral core. Very special bottle.
