Domaine Manoir du Carra
Les Burdelines Moulin-à-Vent Gamay
Bright ruby purple. Nose is all crushed cherries undergirded by a classic stony/granitic nose. Fruit notes are lifted with a slightly carbonic character. Tannins are noticable but polished and seem more stony than vegetal.

Aug 21st, 2022Pretty good for a ‘15 Bojo. Broad and blocky, but not overwhelmingly so. Nose has lots of clean stony minerality (though not the intense granitic type I prize in this region) and plummy fruit. Acids are soft, but the fruit is pure and clean and the tannins are in check. A solid choice with Lyonnaise Poulet au Vinaigre (a more refined wine would be overwhelmed with this dish).

Nov 7th, 2019Dark ruby. Mineral-accented aromas of red and dark berries and potpourri are complemented by a licorice nuance that builds with air. Shows bright floral lift on the palate, which offers sappy black raspberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors that turn sweeter on the back half. Finishes long and subtly tannic, with repeating floral and licorice notes. This is an almost delicate expression of both the appellation and the vintage. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, August 2021)

This wine smells like a berry pie with a graham cracker crust. Blueberry dominant with hints of raspberry and blackberry. Slightly dusty nose. Fruits are more tart on the palate. Medium plus body with lush mouthfeel, smooth tannin, and nice mineral finish. Great value, would buy again.

Apr 8th, 2019A little fruity straight out of the bottle, but mellowed flavor once aerated. Nice body and color too.
