Champs Martin Mercurey 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Starts out exotic then the backbone kicks in then the ripeness of the vintage fleshes it out and weighs it down a touch. After open for a bit seems the more vivid exotic spicy bits faded back a bit under its own weight but still really nice.

Expensive, but this mercurey drinks like a neighbor further up north.

Dill and, unfortunately, a bit dull

This is classic burgundy. Lovely nose of bright red fruit, earth, and spice. On the palate, it really tightened up with big acid and tannic structure. This could definitely use a few years to settle down, but still very enjoyable now

Very pretty, with smooth tannins and bright fruit and a nice earthy bass rumble.

Even this wine is a "good value" for Burgundy, I would expect more at this price point. Lack of tension & seriousness.

Subdued a bit on nose then expands holding racy core taut still, superbly integrated sweetness from very delicate not toasty bbl finishing with a touch more richness. It moves.

Cherry syrup nose. Waaaay too young. Needs ten to twenty years to stop being cherry water.
