Very fresh nose of crunchy just-pressed cassis and wild berry and a grassy, meadow-y scent. Very soft-textured, with a sultry palate feel. Lean and very minerally flavored. Not much fruit, but not in a bad way. Long, clean, slightly bitter finish. Was a nice accompaniment to spicy Thai take out. It’s weird that I opened this along with a dry Sylvaner, because, palate-wise, this is Sylvaner-like in its mineral, no fruit character.
UPDATE:Night 2 it was much more fragrant and sweet smelling, and in the mouth it was less angular and fruitier. Upping from 8.9 to 9.0.

Loved this one. Loved the cranberries, cherries, and orange peel flavors. Loved also the off-the-wall nature of this grape. First experience with piquepoul noir, and I suspect I won't find another one of these anytime soon, except from the same producer. But when I do find the next vintage, I will be sure to get a bottle! Big time glou-glou! 100% Piquepoul Noir. 1/23/22.

Dark ripe berries but not overly fruity. Balanced with notes of white pepper and anise. Subtle minerality. Supple texture. Could age nicely. Takes a chill well.
