Meaty, iodine, & red currant on the nose. Palate much more opulent than expected. Different but slightly less enjoyable than the Thymiopoulos.

Nice bitter balance. Bright red currant, black raspberry. Earth/mineral. Air is very kind.

Unusual herbaceous & “meaty” nose, with lots of tannin. Would like to try again in a few years.

Big, buxom, cultured. Dark plummy fruit, cocoa, leather, a big boy with some structure, kinda like Bordeaux if it went to Barry’s boot camp

The closest thing to Barbaresco outside of Italy! I love this grape and suggest everyone to search it out!

100% Xinomavro, bold tannins and red fruit, and rose petals...like a Greek Nebbiolo!

Sipping Fine Wine

Over 20 years ago Konstantinos Karydas established Karydas Estate in Ano Gastra, a well-known grape-growing region in Naoussa. Xinomavro (pronounced ksee-NO-mah-vro) is the noblest red variety grown in Greece. Medium Garnet with aromas of red fruits and spice. On the palate dried red fruit, cherry, cinnamon and oak flavors. Rustic tannins, good acidity balance on a medium finish ending with earthy spices. Wine beginning to show some age. Tasting Sample.
