Aromas of roses, red & black cherries, cassis, carob, and a hint of menthol & clove ~ the first few hours an energetic linear beam of red fruits soared through this light to medium Burgundy with a hint of gravel on the finish ~ now 5 hours in a sappier wine emerges with even a bit more breadth yet retaining that crunchy core of red fruits ~ INTENSE!

Black cherry, leather, pipe tobacco, smoke, licorice, baking spice, vanilla. Surprisingly lush, open-knit, fruit-forward, generously-oaked Pinot Noir that gives one more the impression of Russian River Valley's Laguna Ridge than of Santenay. I don't see this particular wine as a direct reflection or microcosm of the 2015 vintage, it just feels a bit manipulated and clumsy to me. Some lovely lush fruit and sexy spice tones but without much sense of tension, focus or delicacy. I can always find simple and tasty New World Pinot Noir for less than $25.

Way to much extraction and clumsy oak treatment is just embarrassingly evident in this New World wannabe. Flawless, yes. Pointless, yes that to. Appellation Tellus Controllée.

Drinking well, taking on savory notes; faded some as the evening went on, so not sure how much life left ahead.

Nice little bottle of Burgundy. It took some time to open up - best about 5 hours after poppin' it

PnP from a 375ml.
N: Mentholated Cherries, clove, some liquorice, oak, soil. Pretty indeed.
P: Light on the palate, hinting that w time and air this would fill out.Cherries and traces of oak, a bit of savory essence on the edges. All the parts are there.Sometimes these half bottles are an irresistible bargain. I’d do this again.

Domaine Jessiaume Santenay 1er Cru ‘Les Gravières’ 2018: Medium-bodied. Medium acidity. Yellow apple. White peach. Lemon/lime. Butter. Vanilla. Oak. Excellent minerality & long flavorful finish. For me, this was an outstanding Burgundy wine. Cheers🍷
