Approachable. Better with barbecued meats. More restrained than Offerus. Always a good buy. Hold in the short term.

Rich ruby color and an oak-dominated nose that would peg this as a new world wine in most blind tastings. Here the crushed rock minerality and violet, leather and plum of Syrah are buried under juicy blackberry and black cherry compote. It has less old world subtly and more new world flash than expected. Maybe that will balances out in time but for now, it’s a bit one dimensional

Spicy yet ripe red fruits. Showing more new world in this warm Rhone vintage. From noted Rhone producer Jean Louis Chave this Cotes du Rhone (not Crozes Hermitage) is more than twice the price of the CdR from Guigal -the latter remaining one of the World’s best value red wines.

Cured meats, beef jerky, pepper, dried herbs, dark fruits and acid that molds everything together. Wish it was the $400 wine that delectable says it is, but it’s the $25 bottle :) working great with a ribeye.

Really outstanding Crozes from an exciting vintage. Excellent balance of blue fruits, smoked meat, herbs and black earth minerality. Tannins are youthful but approachable. Lovely restraint and subtle force.
