No other Rhone varietal compares to Chave Hermitage Rouge for me. Ethereal depth and character. A good deal more youthful than the '04 I had a few months back.

I knew it was too young but the alternative was a 1978, which I thought might need more time in the decanter than we had. Still, plenty of fruit but tannins, acidity, and musty earth were in a battle for supremacy. Result was a bit of an off aroma but decent on the palate.
