Chave 2000 Hermitage Blanc showed just as well as the bottle I had earlier this year. I have such an appreciation for Rhône Blanc especially from the greats like Chave and Rayas. This 2000 is really in the zone showing layers of rich unctuous spiced orchard fruit, grilled nuts, brown butter and honeysuckle with superb length and persistence.

Aug 25th, 2021Rich, intense and opulent. A bigger vintage, but so well made, balanced and unlike how some other white Rhône’s can be, the alcohol is seamlessly hidden here. Layered with spiced orchard fruit, grilled nuts, honeycake, brown butter and nutmeg. There is a rich mouthcoating and viscous texture with great midpalate depth leading to a delightfully long finish. A great showing indeed.

Beautiful fresh and aromatic nose of almonds, peaches and apricots. I love that this had very little of that “weight” that is common in Northern Rhône whites. The palate was filled with honey, orange marmalade, almonds and minerals. Lovely complexity combined with a great acidic spine.
