Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard
Savigny-lès-Beaune Pinot Noir
Gorgeous nose of deep cherry fruit, tweed jacket, minerals and wet earth. Gorgeous and classic SLB and classic Girard. Fleshy and ripe but excellent cut and grip. Superb supple red fruits and nice finesse for such a humble wine. Tiny berry fruit intensity and so sappy. Great dissipation on the finish.

Open knit and friendly, with good weight and mouth presence, fine tannins and fresh finish. Well defined blackberry on the palate, with hints of strawberry and a rose petal finish. Fruit fades a bit the next day leaving oak tannin and a slightly dry finish. Overall a very pleasant wine , drinking well In It’s youth.

Apr 8th, 2022Village burgs with some age rock. Gorgeous wide open nose. Spice, herbs, big mid to late season cherry fruit. Super bright and high toned. Tangy black cherry and red cherry fruit. Great freshness and energy. Really good acids and tons of length. What a value. Showing serious complexity on the palate. Wonderful elegance and serious structure and sap. Great stuff.

Mar 20th, 2020Great value Burg! (three words rarely spoken together). Fragrant, good weight. Lots of juicy black cherry, loads of limestoney minerality. Nice acids. Not the most complex or long but lots of character.

Mar 15th, 2019Revisiting a bottle we last tasted in the intimate chateau of the Girard's in Spring of 2018.
Nose has the brightest fresh cherry note of any village Burgundy appellation, fresh Thanksgiving cranberry dressing and moist leather.
Palate has insane/deep cherry for days, dried citrus peel, grippy tannins and a long finish. Great structure and built for the long haul.
Photos of the cool/moist barrel cellar of the chateau, older bottles collecting cellar mold, the new winemaking facility out at the rear of the property and our bottle of the evening.
Opening this too soon for sure, but damn 2016 Burgundy is incredibly tasty and it's hard to hold back! Buy all your can afford, seriously.

This killed in 2016. Dark, sour cherries, mineral, hint of fine tobacco, cranberry and super tangy. Bright. Mineral. Lovely nose. What one wants. Palate is ripe as deep with awesome structure and depth. Amazing purity with a long finish with lovely lingering sweetness.

Bright fresh cherry, light mineral.
Sneaking the remainder of the bottle into the Harry Connick Jr. show at Tanglewood tonight. 🤫
Update: Show was epic, 3rd time seeing him, suggest everyone see him at least once, consummate artist!
