Nose is lemon, some discreet wood. vanilla extract, lanolin and an intense stony minerality. Sweet lime as well and just stunning aromatic depth and vividness. 9.4 nose. Great cut and almost zero wood on palate and what is there is lovely and complementary to the awesome acidity and freshness. Really long. Such a mineral bomb. Long. Wow this really drinks well for $32? A great wine.

College hoops and a terrific white Burg. Happy place. Let this puppy air out and warm up a bit. Then the nose releases elegant scents of pure ripe lemon dripped on crystalline stones, along with pear and wet hay. Intense in the mouth, with really pure lemony, earthy lightly buttered toast and pure stones. Really impressive for a village wine from a supposed second-tier village.

Nov 7th, 2018The rare Savigny Les Beaune Blanc from GIRARD. I love this wine. Big, expansive nose, hints of sweet oak, ripe pears and apples. Gorgeous underpinning of minerality. Palate has such good energy, with some richness and loads of fruit. I love 17 white burg. This is terrific. Good freshness, finesse and delineation. So clean. Great showing.

Big, rich and ripe. Minerals and pasty sugar. Rich and deep with glorious fruit. Great balance and freshness. Terrific purity and balance. Good long finish. Much fresher than I thought it would be.

Lovely and discreet yet subtle nose. Some oak spice, mineral and lime rock candy. Terrific aromas. Palate had that 2014 precision along with nice spice and complexity. Well judged wood. Nice balance of an opulent mid palate and tangy acids on the back end. Killer wine.

On day 2 heat is gone. Richness is grand cru level. Utterly delicious and hedonistic. Still balanced. Nose has ethereal minerality. Kiss of lime peel. Wtf is going on here. This is like drinking corton charlemagne! Wtf? What the fuck ?!?!? Lingering mere kiss of elegant honey.
Whatever. This is a 9.5 even though it’s a village wine.
