Domaine Jean Dauvissat Pere & Fils
Homme Mort Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay
Nose is so airy and mineral with a bit of fat but not much. Seashells. oyster bed, some green apple and lovely wet rain effect. A scene in nature as I like to say. Palate is rich and ripe but with so much nerve and energy and an icing on the cake like texture. Great purity, density and concentration. Long, tangy finish. Really compelling and a bit cold and young so will follow. Nose gets some lemon curd and spice now with air. Wonderful combo of opulence and tension. Really nailed the vintage.

Jan 1st, 2024Delicious. No formal notes. Grippy, wide open and juicy. Superb salinity. En Magnum.
After 2+ hours this is superb. Elegant and refined. Like chiseled from stone. Slamming finish 9.4 to 9.5.

Finally got myself a bottle of one of the rarest wines I import. Only got an allocation in 18 for the first time. Anyway this is an insane bottle of Chablis. It’s basically Fabien’s Grand Cru. Nose is spicy and mineral. Sea water, hint of discreet wood. So salty. Nose is so classic and the most ethereal of the Dauvissat wines. Wow, the palate is so intense and explosive. Awesome minerality and electricity. Juicy and so pure. Backwards and will need air. So much sap and dry extract. Lime echo on the finish. So so long. Awesome power, majesty and density. What grip. What an intense wine. The length is crazy.

Jan 22nd, 2021Everything to love in a great Chablis - focused, flinty lemon and apple fruit, great minerality and an intensity and roundness (and a kiss of oak) that seems more Grand Cru than Premier. Lovely wine - bring on the bivalves

Quite close on nose, pure, honey, high intensity flavours with citrus, ginger, white pepper, mineral, bouquet, floral, high acidity and long finish. Need some time to develop further characters.

Oct 30th, 2020Best on night three. A bit thin, hopefully rounds out more in bottle, but the finish suggests there is something more here. Will check back in a few more months.
