Domaine Hubert Lignier
Les Chaffots Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Quite a number of friends have been saying that Lignier's back on form with V15 onwards, and I gotta say this wine concurs with the claim. Started off kinda blocky and oakey but with a little air, the disjointness melds, leaving behind an incredibly pure and mineralic wine. Highly perfumed - dark red fruits, floral, stoney, with a touch of animale. The palate's juicy and intense. Immense structure. Pure red berries interwoven with lovely spice, citrus oil, and meatiness. The finish is aromatic and long, driven by minerality. There's a certain brawniness and ripeness to this wine, but it still manages to maintain such a graceful presence. Superb! A real master act.

this was the first red of the night we drank, and the last ~ even amongst CDPs, Super Ts and 100ptBdx we found ourselves revisiting mist and finishing with ~ the perfume wrapped you up like your cosiest bathrobe and the juice seductively sedated yet internally energized

At Batard in NYC. Decanted. Nice aged ruby color. Sweet nose including ripe berries, mushroom, forest floor and some spice. Good mouth feel that lasts long enough to give you the terroir impact. Really like the finish. This was on the wine list at two restaurants in NYC this week and both somms said this was a recent direct release from the domaine. So good provenance and a good showing for a so so vintage.
