A subtle wine, with plenty of acid and minerality. It's soft and earthy with some tobbaco and sour red fruit. I drank it too young.

Cinnamon is making lamb shanks and I just started reading Mr. Curtis' new book, so it had to be Burgundy tonight. The quote from Claude Arnoux, from 1728, "all the lords who prefer healthful drinks to dainty ones order wines from the Cote de Nuits for their table" made me reach for this Gouges. Report to follow.
