Domaine Grangier (Roland Grangier)
Syrah des Collines
Rhône, France

A little more open than my last bottle a year ago. Love the pure granitic stanky minerality on the nose. Some dark, tight, bright berry fruit and a spritz of pink grapefruit rind. So soft and gulpable in the mouth. Flavors veering more to the savory, stony side than fruity.

Really good value in a lighter but spot-on Northern Rhône Syrah. Loads of higher-toned crushed stone leads on the nose, following by very pure mixed berry fruit and a little holiday spice. Soft and fresh in the mouth, on the leaner side, but with nice minerality and length. A nice honest weeknight dinner wine.

Beautiful nose of riverside fruit -
And a touch of coriander.
Heavy bodied with a lively mouthfeel, a hammock of pomegranate juice and mint on the tongue.
With just a bit of velvety citrus, the tannins are so well integrated.
Another lovely jewel of the Rhone

Grapey fruit (think Welch’s grape juice), some minerality and even some funk, good acidity, fruit forward, a quaffer compared to the E. Darnaud I posted earlier, but a tasty Syrah nonetheless.

Trying this lovely French Syrah a year later, still a bit reduced, but lovely purity of fruit with mineral undertones, nice balance, a quintessential midweek, no-guilt, drinker!!
