Such a deep gold color. Palate is smokey, flinty and honeyed. New tweed jacket. Hint of VA. But really a unique Les Filles. Very complex aromas. Luscious, pure and balanced. Wow this palate is super elegant and nimble for this cuvee. So juicy and almost weightless. Gorgeous finish. Closed but my goodness this is stunning. Amazingly textured almost tannic on the finish. So wonderful.

Jan 15th, 2024Starts off reduced and funky with loads of tropical fruit under the surface. Mango, papaya, ripe tangelo, spice, herbs and bitter kumquats. So complex. Reduction takes 45 minutes to blow off completely. Just a decadent nose. After some air some wild flowers and kiwi. So good. Palate has terrific energy and ripeness with the classic Berlioz balance. Exceptional purity and depth. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Exceptional concentration and zesty citrusy and tropical fruits on the exceptionally long finish. Wow. This is truly great. Really opens up brilliantly over 45 minutes. Superb structure and sap. What mouthfeel. Round yet has elegant corners as well. What a finish. As great as the 16. Stunning.

Dec 1st, 2020Wow. What a nose. Pastry cake, phyllo dough, mountain air. Grass. Flowers. Hit of high end honey. Smells like a sprite farted. Palate is crispy and clean, rich and vibrant but also showing slight hint of heat right now. Very pure and clean. Heat goes away after 5 mins or so. So tropical and juicy. Energetic and vibrant with nice acid. Very complex. Loads of fruit for such a mineral driven wine. Now heat is back on finish and does prickle. That’s 17.

Checking in on the 2020…long decant, tropical nose, lychee, mango, long & oily palate. Give this another year to develop or try on day 2.

Nose is tropical. Lovely.
Palate -elegant tropical fruit. Sort of this creamy tropical elegance.
Long elegant tropical finish.
As this opens it becomes much more elegant. Almost a tropical perfume.
An hour in this gets crazy. Tropical flower perfume. Insane. Oh my god. Like a walk in a rainforest filled with tropical fruits during a rainstorm with the rain aerating the first with tropical fruit and flower perfume. Elite aromatics. Jesus Christ good. Palate is elegant. Almost golden. With a bit more grip and density this would be even higher scoring. Internal aromatics are a thing of beauty. Papaya guava. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Nose is dense and complex. Orange peel. A hint of peat.
Palate is rich but elegantly so. Not over the top like much northern rhone roussane. Very very precise without a hint of blowsiness. Just killer precise linear tropical fruit.
As for the vintage ? True artistes do not stoop to arithmetics.
