Nose is stunning. Brambly alpine red fruits, mashed flowers and fresh cut grass. Loads of herbs as well. Fruit is gorgeous, clear and focused. Palate is juicy, clear and fresh. Lacks a tiny bit of stuffing but also needed 24 hours to become civilized. Lovely wine.

Brilliant vintage for this wine. Gorgeous cinnamon spice and slinky berry fruits. So so expressive. Mulling and xmas spices. Amazing aromas. 9.4 on the nose. Palate is so juicy, complex and refined. Dazzling purity. Delicious purple berry fruits. Lithe tannins and terrific freshness. Concentrated and deep. Lovely structure and density. So so juicy and well made.

Heavenly nose. Such a unique Mondeuse. Floral, lifting, grapey, berries, bright. So so mesmerizingly aromatic. Complex and juicy with nice focus but seems a bit thin and closed. Tannins are ripe and juicy and so pure, but also a bit chalky? I think this might need air as the finish is long and persistent. I think it’s either a root day or it needs air. I’ll be back.

UPDATE - after an hour this was what I remember. 8.9 to 9.3. Full of fruit and crackle.

Wow. Stunning. This wine gets more and more refined with each vintage. Best Mondeuse I’ve ever had. Violets, deep berry fruit, mint, so refined and vivid. Elegant Xmas spice. Palate is sweet and sensual with gorgeous black/red berry fruit with lovely sweetness and buffered by terrific minerality. So refined. Elegant for Mondeuse. Brilliant.

This wine is so brilliant. Flowers, minerals, woodland berry fruit, lovely sappiness, violets, pollen, earth, just sick nose. Juicy as all can be with intriguing and deep but a bit untamed, as it should be, Mondeuse fruit. Big ripe wild tannins and terrific freshness from the acidity. Long and saturates the palate. Wonderful. Better in 3 years

Well this has changed into something stunning with a few years of age. Huge berries, leather, smoke, cassis, lavender, very high toned and striking. Floral layered and just so enveloping. Palate is juicy like bursting juicy with elegant tannin, clean, crisp fruit but a bit clamped upon opening and not as exuberant as the nose. But palate staining length and fruit that is there but will form more in a few hours.

2013 Gilles Berlioz Mondeuse. 9.5% alcohol. Crazy nose. Indescribable. Mint, menthol, but so much crazy. Wow. Wow. He wants to call the wine "wow," because that is what everyone calls it. Powerful concentration and so fresh. Sick. Great tannins. Rustic side of Mondeuse but so fucking awesome.

New for me is this grape and producer, it has excellent punch for 9.5%abv...if you have not tried a Mondeuse you need to give this one a whirl, no palate is complete without having experienced this.
