One of the great monopole/vigneron combos in all of Burgundy. Nose is mega elite. Gorgeous mid season cherries that are so vivid it’s just crazy but then you smell flowers and you’re just like ”whoah, man!” This is a ridiculous nose. Volnay in all of its glory. Some black cherry sneaks in there with some air. Beyond floral. So expansive and complete. Wow that palate is just gorgeous. Amazing dark red cherry fruit and stunning clarity to the fruit. Clamps down on your palate with a vice like intensity where the gamey flavors are also introduced. So much more structured and classic than the 19 which was stunning but more in an ethereal drink me now type of way. Superb complexity and structure. Grippy and sappy. Awesome fruit skin flavors as well and so gamey. Like it’s got hints of Gevrey. Spectacular and needs age. But wow, baby!! I’ll be back as it airs out. This seems like it needs 5-7 years to be drinking well.

As this airs it gets a wonderful baking spice element. Forest floor and so much more. Oh my!

This is so supple now and deep. Sultry and fresh and slippery. Awesome fruit and roundness. Awesome concentration and purity. Really long. So close to a 9.7 and no doubt with age. Tiny berry fruit is brilliant on this.

Another stunner from Buffet in 19. Nose is super spicey and complex. Lovely. Really some incredible spice here. Asian spices, hint of wood spice and so much more. There’s very refined mid season cherry on the nose under all that spice but I think it will take a few hours to get there. Gorgeous stoniness as well. Wow this is lights out. Crushes 17 and 18. Now the cherry flower and mid season cherry voluptuous quality is coming out. Oh man what a palate. Just sweet, silky mid season cherry fruit and such wonderful roundness. Sick juiciness and so so pure. This is a smoke show. Complex and so sweet. This is silk. Substantial structure buried under that silk. Just an insane wine. Best Rougeotte ever. I think this is a 9.7. Wtf? What a finish. This is so fucking refined and so sweet and so luxurious. This is epic!

Love this Monopole. Sick nose of confectionary fruit, mid season cherries, sour cherry, bright and lifted with limestone mineralIty. Gorgeous but has more to say. Palate is so supple and succulent. Elegant and balanced with awesome purity and freshness. Energetic and super pure. Awesome palate presence and incredible refined tannins. Just impeccably well made. Dynamite.

Wow. Sick nose. Gorgeous cherries, spice, confectionary, spice, so deep, so intense, complex, juicy, deep and ripe with super precise and deep deep fruit. After air you get cherry flower, spice and an amazing confectionary quality. Sappy and so so energetic. Really big, substantial and deep tannins, with great freshness and acids. A bit backwards today with long sappy fruit, insane hit of midpalate opulence and serious concentration and insane inner mouth aromas. Long. Needs 10 years.

Nose is confused on open at this point.

Palate is rocking. That classic sexy Buffet fruit. Perfect midseason cherries. Sexy spice. A hint of cherry licorice.

As this opens so savory. Crazy levels of density. Dense herbaceousness.

Checking in. This wine is all over the place. The stuffing is there. But wait 3 years. My notes represent the peak at this time.

Ok. Just needs a 90 minute decant. Then it’s great.

Nose: earthy porcini.

Palate: sweet cherries. A bit savory. Intense. A hint of cassis.

15/20 (85/100) Аромат вишни и клубники с заметным тоном жидкости для снятия лака. Высокая кислотность и чуть шероховатые танины. Ничего особенного, своих денег не стоит.
