A fantastic ‘11! No doubt in a leaner style but there’s clear Fourrier signature and it’s so fresh, with absolutely zero greenness, just beautiful floral perfume and bright red cherry fruit that waft from the glass. The palate gains notably in weight and intensity and its pure, focused and saline-mineral inflicted finishes keeps on lingering. Great showing for a vintage I generally avoid in reds.

The second audible of the night, John opened the Fourrier as an end-cap to our exploration of Burgundy. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, every producer of Pinot Noir in the New World seems to be chasing the great wines of Gevrey-Chambertin. This is archetypal. Opulent red and black fruits. Obvious finesse. I just wish I found them more exciting. One of those, “it’s not you, it’s me” situations where the wine is without fault but I just can’t seem to fall in love with it.

Can’t get stop going after ‘15 Burgundy. Here, from one of region’s elite and from the fabulous Combe aux Moines vineyard, deeply flavored and beautifully perfumed, ripe black cherries, red raspberry, exotic spices and damp earth. The texture is luxurious and supple and the finish is long and seductive. 🔥

A little sleepy at the outset but ascended late. Some game musk on the nose, Elegant and supple fruit with bright black cherry, wood pulp and limestone.
