2001 vintage. Opened with a Durand but cork in pretty good shape. Wonderful nose that didn’t translate totally into flavorland. Medium body. Noticeable amount of astringency on the finish that didn’t dissipate after 30 minutes open so decanted remaining 2/3 of bottle. Thinned out the bitterness on the back end somewhat but transferred some of it to the mid-palate. Tasted again after 2.5 hours open and same-no movement. There were well-integrated and beautiful fruit/earth notes in the front seat but they just couldn’t overcome the back seat driver. 10.2.26.
