Vintage 1989 | When and with who you taste can influence your appreciation tremendously. After a blind tasting with terrific wines I poured this wine (blind) in the glasses with sourdough bread and goose rillette. Combination made in heaven. The well known tension between sweet and acids completed it. A treat. With wine friends @Liselotte Brouwers @Berry Marinussen Maarten Drop.

Vintage 1989 | for me an obscure domaine, it caught my attention at an auction. I do love ripened Chenin Blanc, which sometimes seems immortal. So I thought: give it a try. The wine was sent from France. Lovely ripened colour, old gold. Shy smell, good taste that combines honey and bitters. The cuvée is ‘moelleux’ but very good balance with the acids. Paired good with rilettes and pheasant pâté.

Bright, vibrant and mineral driven, touch of sweetness, notes of honey cake, tropical fruits, quince and a hint of candied ginger.

Interesting and perplexing. Fresh, but with a streak of funk through it that takes time to shake. It wasn't unpleasant, just distracting. Sweet apple, petrol, with herbal and floral seasoning.

Like a Chenin bomb went off in your mouth. So damn sexy. Lush, silky & honeyed. Freshly balanced by vibrant acidity. High performance juice.
