Cuvée Tante Berthe 2008.
A fabulous bottle.
Opened very poopy but blossomed into a juicy beauty.

Easily the best wine of my birthday week. ❤️❤️❤️ sweet baby Jesus it was packed with red raspberry compote, sous bois, and herbs. The wine kept drawing you back to the glass to smell the layers upon layer of generous fruit the 2005 vintage provides, but underpinned and counterpointed by rustic notes of truffle, mushrooms, herbs, meat, iron, etc. This is one of those bottles I'll never forget. True balance, power, and depth.

This is very reduced and needed decanting and a lot of swirling. Not nearly as good as the 2008. Should age for decades!

Class in a glass. Lovely sappy tart red fruits. Velvety mouthfeel. Long finish.

Drinking PERFECT FOR THE AFTERMATH OF A BOMB CYCLONE AND ARCTIC CONDITIONS. Reminder that there were beautiful things (in 2008 at least).
