Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Lucky enough to try a number of 2013 Drouhin-Laroze this week. Not the easiest of vintages but resulting wines are drinking very well at the moment.

Had it August 2008.
Delicate. Fantastic fruit with hints of spices, above all star anise. Nice fresh and very enjoyable. I would wait very very long to drink it.

Fine choice off a terrific restaurant list. Great match with my rib eye and their Bolognesa. Instantly open, but start to tip over after an hour; so drink up.

Reduced.

This is fantastic! In the zone. Very harmonious and long. Deep and layered.

Dark red towards purple but expected clarity and slight hint of browning and thinning around rim. Bright cherry, strawberry, red spices on the nose…slight floral and earthiness. Bright acidity, lots of candied red fruit, spices, stronger earth than nose. Acidity keeps it all lively and balanced. Savory notes are mouthwatering and keep you wanting more. With time and tasting, you get a bit too much sour and a slight cloying overcooked fruit.
